Your activity has the advantage of simplicity. It's easy to organise and can be done with spontaneity, requiring no additional helpers, and the randomness has a special kind of beauty. On the other, when giving money to random homeless strangers, there's the risk that some of them will immediately turn the cash. Hopefully, most used the money to buy themselves something to eat, or to pay for a warm shelter for the night.
